Security at GoodByEmail

We take security and data privacy very seriously at GoodByEmail, and we are proud to be open and transparent about how we operate. We have taken several precautions to ensure the safety of your data. Here's how we secure your information.

What data we store.

When you use our software we never store the content of your emails in any form. We only store some completely anonymous data, which falls into two categories:

  • Statistical data when browsing our homepage. This consists of counts of events such as number of users accessing the website, the pages they are accessing, their public addresses.
  • Statistical data when using our GoodByEmail application. This consists of counts of events such as app opening and logins.

What happens when you open your mailbox with our software.

  • No mailbox data is transferred to our servers - All processing of your mailbox happens locally on your machine. We never store the content of your emails in any form, nor any metadata or statistics about it. In other words, your mailbox is processed 100% locally on your computer and is never uploaded to the internet.
  • Mailbox scan while disconnected from the internet - You may run the software offline, i.e. completely disconnected from the internet. Just make sure to first go online and login once to unlock it. This requires an active paid subscription, so we can show the full mailbox analysis results. If desired, you may switch to work offline right after having signed in (to unlock the software).
  • Session security - When you login, your authentication details are only stored on your session on your computer, and are wiped when you log out. There is no way for someone else to access them, even if they were able to get into our systems.
